Art without obstacles
Shaping a world where art can be dreamed, developed, and realized without obstacles.
At the intersection of tradition and innovation, our vision is to cultivate a performing arts ecosystem that celebrates diversity, inclusivity, and the untold stories waiting to be unveiled.
OUR MISSION:
Our mission is to secure and provide support to theatrical artists by providing access to professional mentorship, subsidized investments, and a supportive network infrastructure that can ignite the innovation of art.
Subsidized Space:
The Space Subsidy Program provides affordable, accessible rehearsal space to writers, directors, choreographers, and other creative artists at highly subsidized rates. Grants are provided to rehearsal spaces so they can, in turn, offer studio rentals to qualifying artists at rates between $5-10/hour, allowing artists to focus on their creative work.
Pipeline for New Works:
NEW NEXT NOW is a dynamic program of readings, residencies, and high-quality professional concert productions designed to foster cross-generational conversations and amplify new voices in musical theatre. By celebrating, expanding, and diversifying the canon, NEW NEXT NOW champions the future of the form while honoring its legacy.
In partnership with the Fred Ebb Foundation, this initiative is creating a bold new pipeline for the next generation of theatre makers. Through strategic collaborations with industry professionals, regional theaters, resource organizations, and arts institutions across the country, NEW NEXT NOW is building a national network committed to equity, excellence, and innovation in musical theatre.
THE BROADWAY WORKROOM SERIES is a groundbreaking new program to champion the arts and empower the development of theatrical artists and new works. This initiative provides creative teams with free studio space and technical support, culminating in concert presentations of the musicals.
Professional Development:
Professional development program provides tuition and scholarships to allow access to developing artists (onstage and backstage) to attend creative training programs and professional development opportunities:
THE TIME STEP SYMPOSIUM is a program for Dance Arrangers and Choreographers, providing hands-on mentorship from some of Broadway’s Prolific, encouraging the relationship between music and dance on Broadway and beyond.
Filmed in front of a studio audience of young theatre makers, THE ARTIST IN THE OPEN JAR SERIES is a series of creative conversations, allowing theatre makers from around the world to get a glimpse inside the creative process of some of the greatest artists in the American Theatre.
THE ACTOR RESIDENCY is a seven-week intensive designed for actors who recently moved to New York City to help coach and mentor them through their first audition season. In addition to intensive training in acting, singing, and dance, each resident has a mentor in the business to help them navigate their first audition season.
BROADWAY SHARK TANK is a unique opportunity for Broadway musical writing teams to pitch their original show to a panel of industry experts.
The Foundation also coordinates grants for young professionals to assist other professionals to observe the creative process and learn from the best in the industry.
